What is Erasmus+ and why is everyone talking about it?

If you've ever heard "I'm going on Erasmus" and thought it was something only for students, it's time to debunk the myth. Erasmus+ is much more than a university program. It's a European program that gives young people the opportunity to travel, develop, learn informally, and meet people from all over Europe (and beyond!). In other words, Erasmus+ is your chance to step out of your comfort zone, experience something new, and come back with a bunch of memories, skills, and new friendships.

What is Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ is a European Union program that supports:

● education

● youth

● volunteering

● sport

● active citizenship

It funds various international projects in which young people from different countries come together to learn from each other, exchange experiences, and work on topics that are important to them - such as youth participation, ecology, culture, mental health, digital skills, equality, and much more.

What opportunities does Erasmus+ offer young people?

Imagine 5-10 days in another country, together with young people from different countries, where:
● you learn through games, discussions, and creative activities
● you speak English (or another common language)
● you participate in workshops, cultural evenings, and excursions
● you make lifelong friendships
And the best part? Travel, food, and accommodation expenses are covered!

Training courses

If you are more active, love to learn and develop, the training courses are for you! They are aimed at:
● youth leaders
● active youth
● volunteers
● people who want to create change
Topics can be leadership, project management, communication, mental health, social inclusion, and many others.

Youth participation and civic engagement

Erasmus+ empowers young people to:
● express their opinions
● engage in dialogues with institutions
● create initiatives for change in their communities
Because the voice of young people matters.

Youth Exchanges
ESC – European Solidarity Corps

Do you want to live in another country for a longer period and do something meaningful? With ESC, you can:
● volunteer for 2 to 12 months
● suitable for young people aged 18 to 30 years old
● work with children, youth, culture, ecology, and social causes
● live in another country while all basic expenses are covered
● receive pocket money and support throughout the period
This is a unique opportunity to grow, become more independent, and get to know the world.

Why participating in Erasmus+?

Because:

● you travel
● you meet new people
● you learn in a fun way
● you develop life skills
● you become more confident
● you experience something you can't learn in a classroom

Erasmus+ is not just a program – it's an experience that often changes the way you see the world… and yourself.

And where is Teen Spirit in the whole story?

Teen Spirit is part of the Erasmus+ community and actively:

● sends young people to international projects
● welcomes participants from different countries
● organizes and participates in youth exchanges and trainings
● creates opportunities for the development of young people in Chepelare and beyond

If you want to be part of this adventure, Erasmus+ could be your start.
